A man was killed and his friend injured...
A police spokesman said unknown assailants were trying to abduct the woman on Voronezhskaya Street at about 1 a.m. Moscow time (22:00 GMT Wednesday), and two passersby, both born in 1982, intervened.
The assailants attacked the two men with knives and made off with the woman.
"One man died at the scene of the crime, the second one was hospitalized. Police did not manage to [arrive in time to] detain the criminals, and the woman in question has not been found either," a police spokesman said.
An investigation is underway.
