The 23-year-old skater was the fastest on the track at the Richmond Olympic Oval to win the gold with a total time of 1 minute 56.89 seconds.

Canada"s Kristina Groves finished 0.25 seconds behind Wust to win the silver, while Martina Sablikova brought the bronze for the Czech Republic with the result of 1 minute 57.96 seconds.

Yekaterina Shikhova was the fastest of four Russian speed skaters competing in the event having finished in the eighth place with the total time of 1 minute 58.54 seconds.
