Irina Antonova, who heads the Pushkin Fine Arts Museum, received the award at a ceremony at the Russian Consulate General in New York.

The Liberty Prize, first awarded in 1999, is a non-governmental award to honor people who have made a contribution to the Russian-American cultural ties.

The prize was earlier awarded to writers Vassily Aksyonov and Vladimir Sorokin, poet Lev Rubinstein, Librarian of the Congress James Billington, ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov and others.
