Russia will not protest against the results...

"The judging system is a constant topic [for discussions]. But the judging system is the way it is, and we need to adapt to it and not criticize it," Vitaly Mutko told RIA Novosti. "No protests are lodged against such things," he said.

Plushenko won the Olympic silver medal in Vancouver in the men"s free skating competition on Thursday, beat out by the U.S."s Evan Lysacek who took the gold medal.

Plushenko disagreed with the result, saying he should have been given the gold. Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said in a message to the figure skater that his silver Olympic medal is worth "gold." Many sports commentators supported Plushenko.

Plushenko, 27, said after the result that he might quit the sport.

The former Olympic and three-time world champion returned to the ice late last year after a self-imposed retirement from competitive skating following his stunning performance in Turin in 2006.

He easily won an international Moscow cup in October
