Russian champions Rubin Kazan have turned...

Former Russia captain Semak, 33, spent 10 years at CSKA, from 1994 to 2004, and admitted that the move back to the capital would have been "symbolic."

"CSKA is a team very close to my heart," he told Sovetski Sport. "But I still have a year on my contract with Rubin, and the club turned them down."

"It would have been very symbolic for me to return to CSKA. But I don"t see anything bad about staying with Rubin. We have a great team," he said.

Semak signed for Rubin in 2008, after spells at Paris Saint-Germain and FC Moskva and has won two successive Russian Premier League titles with the Kazan club.
